This question comes up from time to time on all motorcycle-related forums. The consensus seems to be that they don't work for deers, but do an admirable job of preventing bike/elephant collisions (at least in North America.) Best advice is to be CAREFUL and come to a full stop if you sight a deer near/in the road. Same advice applies to elephants.
